Updated with the trailer.
Prime Video is set to premiere its crime thriller series “Cross,” led by Aldis Hodge, on November 14. The series, based on James Patterson’s bestselling Alex Cross novels, has already secured a second season ahead of its debut.
Led by Aldis Hodge in the role of Alex Cross, the detective and forensic psychologist, who’s uniquely capable of digging into the minds of killers and victims in order to identify and catch them. A doting father and family man, Cross is single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers. He is desperate for love, but his wife’s murder has left him too damaged to receive it. ‘Cross’ aims to delve deeply into the intricate world of Patterson’s beloved character.

The first season’s cast includes Isaiah Mustafa, Ryan Eggold, Karen LeBlanc, Melody Hurd, Alona Tal, Juanita Jennings, Caleb Elijah, Jennifer Wigmore, Samantha Walkes, Johnny Ray Gill, Eloise Mumford, Sharon Taylor, and Siobhan Murphy. Hodge not only stars but also takes on a producer role, adding another layer of depth to his involvement in the project.
The Alex Cross character has a rich history in film, previously portrayed by Morgan Freeman in “Kiss the Girls” (1997) and “Along Came a Spider” (2001), and by Tyler Perry in the 2012 reboot “Alex Cross.” Patterson introduced the character in the 1993 novel “Along Came a Spider,” and the series has since become a staple in the crime fiction genre.
“Cross” joins Prime Video’s lineup of successful adaptations of beloved book series, such as “Reacher” and “Jack Ryan.” The latter concluded last year, paving the way for “Cross” to captivate audiences with its thrilling narrative.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television Studios, and Skydance Television, “Cross” is created and executive produced by showrunner Ben Watkins under his Blue Monday Productions banner. Other executive producers include Patterson, Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, Craig Siebels, Bill Robinson, Patrick Santa, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost.
The second season, which was greenlit in May, will feature new cast members Wes Chatham, Matthew Lillard, and Jeanine Mason, with Johnny Ray Gill elevated to a series regular.
Be sure to tune in to Prime Video on November 14 to catch the premiere of “Cross” and experience the latest chapter in the Alex Cross saga.
