CBS’ hit procedural dramedy Elsbeth is bringing in powerhouse guest stars for its second season, with David Alan Grier and Mary-Louise Parker set to appear in upcoming episodes. The Good Wife and Good Fight spinoff, led by Carrie Preston as the sharp-witted Elsbeth Tascioni, continues to captivate audiences with its signature “howcatchem” mystery format.
Premiering in February 2024, Elsbeth follows the unconventional investigator as she transitions from a career in Chicago law to solving high-profile cases in New York. The series, which also stars Wendell Pierce and Carra Patterson, has been praised for its clever storytelling and engaging performances.
Grier, currently starring in NBC’s St. Denis Medical, will portray Arthur Greene Jr., the meticulous owner of an elite family-run mortuary catering to New York’s upper class. According to CBS, “Discretion is everything to Arthur, so when his conspiracy-minded nephew threatens to unearth the truth about a famous author’s botched funeral, he does what must be done to keep the secret buried.”
Parker, best known for her Emmy and Golden Globe-winning role in Showtime’s Weeds, will take on the role of Freya, a decluttering expert with a minimalist lifestyle brand and an iron grip on control. When her husband disrupts her carefully curated life, she takes drastic measures to preserve the balance of her relationship—with murder.
The second season of Elsbeth continues to bring in an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Matthew Broderick, Laurie Metcalf, Nathan Lane, Vanessa Williams, and Eric McCormack. Last season featured appearances from Laura Benanti, Jane Krakowski, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Tony winner André De Shields.
Parker recently wrapped MGM+’s thriller series The Institute, based on Stephen King’s novel, and is set to appear in Paramount’s limited series The Gray House. She also stars alongside Ayo Edebiri in Omni Loop, which premiered at SXSW in 2024.
Grier, a Tony-winning actor and In Living Color alum, has built an impressive career spanning comedy, drama, and Broadway. His recent film credits include They Cloned Tyrone, The American Society of Magical Negroes, and the 2023 adaptation of The Color Purple. He is represented by Activist Artists Management and Innovative Artists Agency.
Elsbeth Season 2 is currently airing on CBS, with new episodes streaming on Paramount+.
