Netflix is scrubbing in for its first English-language medical procedural, Pulse, and the countdown is officially on. The high-intensity drama will premiere April 3, bringing a storm—literally—to the hospital halls.
Alongside the release date, Netflix has dropped first-look images showcasing the ensemble cast, which includes Jessie T. Usher, Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, Justina Machado, Jack Bannon, Jessy Yates, Chelsea Muirhead, and Daniela Nieves. The extended cast features Ash Santos, Néstor Carbonell, Jessica Rothe, Santiago Segura, and Arturo Del Puerto.
Created by Zoe Robyn (Hawaii Five-0, The Equalizer) and co-showrun with Carlton Cuse (Lost, Five Days at Memorial), Pulse combines high-stakes medical cases with personal drama, placing its characters in the middle of both a literal and metaphorical storm.
Set in Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center, the story follows third-year resident Dr. Danny Simms (Fitzgerald), who suddenly finds herself in over her head when Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Woodell) is suspended—just as a hurricane barrels toward the city. As the hospital goes into lockdown, Simms and Phillips are forced to navigate the onslaught of emergency cases while dealing with the fallout of their complicated and illicit relationship.
Meanwhile, the rest of the ER staff juggles their own professional and personal crises, proving that sometimes saving lives is easier than living them.
With the rise of medical procedurals across networks and streamers, Pulse joins a growing list of recent additions, including Max’s The Pitt (already renewed for season 2), Peacock’s St. Denis Medical, Fox’s Doc, and CBS’ Watson. Even ABC is getting in on the action with the cruise ship-set drama Doctor Odyssey. Now, Netflix is staking its claim in the genre, adding its own brand of intensity to the mix.
Behind the scenes, Bradley Gardner, Emma Forman, Michael Klick, and Kate Dennis serve as executive producers alongside Robyn and Cuse.
With drama in the ER, personal scandals in the hallways, and a hurricane raging outside, Pulse is ready to bring the heat when it debuts april 3 on Netflix.
Stay tuned for more updates—and in the meantime, check out the first-look images above.
