David Jonsson Joins A24’s ‘Please,’ Halina Reijn’s Follow-Up to ‘Babygirl’

David Jonsson has joined the cast of Please, the upcoming A24 film written and directed by Halina Reijn. The British actor, who won the BAFTA Rising Star award in 2025, joins previously announced cast members Gracie Abrams, Connor Storrie, and Tom Burke.

Please marks Reijn’s third collaboration with A24, following the satirical slasher Bodies Bodies Bodies and the erotic thriller Babygirl, which premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival — where Nicole Kidman won Best Actress — and went on to gross $64 million globally against a $20 million budget. The new film is described as a period female drama and a continuation of the edgy romance genre Reijn explored in Babygirl, though plot details are being kept under wraps. The film is expected to shoot this year.

Jonsson has had a busy rise to prominence. He is known for his roles in Rye Lane, Alien: Romulus, the finance drama Industry, and the Agatha Christie adaptation Murder Is Easy. More recently he starred in the dystopian thriller The Long Walk, based on a Stephen King novel, and the prison drama Wasteman, which he also executive produced alongside Sophia Gibber through their production company greyarea.

Looking ahead, Jonsson is set to play Sammy Davis Jr. in Colman Domingo’s directorial debut Scandalous, opposite Sydney Sweeney as Kim Novak. He will also appear in Chaperones, from director India Donaldson, and has signed on for a lead role in Frank Ocean’s as-yet-untitled debut feature.

Gracie Abrams, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, makes her acting debut in the film. Connor Storrie is fresh off his breakout role in Heated Rivalry, and Tom Burke most recently appeared in Black Bag.

David Hinojosa produces, reuniting with Reijn for the third time. Reijn produces through her MAN UP Film banner, with A24 producing and financing, and Zach Nutman serving as executive producer.
