Da’Vinchi is becoming Hollywood’s go-to firefighter. The actor has joined the series regular cast of NBC’s Chicago Fire as Marcus Burke, a firefighter candidate at Firehouse 51 in the procedural’s upcoming 15th season, premiering Wednesday, October 7 at 9 p.m.
He joins a cast that includes Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Miranda Rae Mayo, Christian Stolte, Joe Miñoso, Jocelyn Hudon and Brandon Larracuente, all of whom are heading into Season 15 under dire circumstances. The Season 14 finale ended on one of the show’s most explosive cliffhangers yet, with the entire Firehouse 51 crew caught in a massive blast while battling a storage facility fire. Severide, Mouch and others were trapped inside the building while the remaining crew was engulfed in a fiery blast wave while scaling an evacuation ladder. The fates of the team remain entirely unresolved heading into the new season.
The finale also delivered several major personal milestones before the chaos erupted. Herrmann re-proposed to his wife Cindy so they could renew their vows, Mouch signed a publishing deal for his romance novel, Cruz and Chloe learned they are expecting twins and Stella and Severide’s foster son Isaiah revealed he had run away from home. Severide was also on the verge of announcing his decision between becoming Captain of Firehouse 51 or Chief of Fire Investigation when the alarm interrupted him.
Marcus Burke is described as roguish and funny with a wry sense of humor and a streak of defiance that will no doubt make his time at Firehouse 51 anything but quiet. The role marks Da’Vinchi’s second firefighting character, following his casting as Noah in Tyler Perry’s upcoming Netflix drama Where There’s Smoke, a 16-episode series centered on a crew balancing dangerous rescues with their personal battles at home.
Da’Vinchi is best known for his role on Starz’s BMF, where he played one of the real-life Flenory Brothers, and also starred in the CW’s All-American. Next up he will also star in Tyler Perry’s Netflix film Why Did I Get Married Again.
Chicago Fire Season 15 premieres Wednesday, October 7 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
