Dennis Haysbert, best known as President David Palmer from 24, is bringing his commanding presence to Send Help, a new survival horror thriller directed by Sam Raimi for 20th Century Studios.
Haysbert joins an ensemble that includes Rachel McAdams, Dylan O’Brien, and Chris Pang. While details about his character are being kept under wraps, the film promises a gripping story of survival and mind games. Send Help follows two colleagues stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. As they fight to survive, old wounds resurface, turning the battle against the elements into a psychological showdown.
With an original script from Baywatch writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, Send Help is shaping up to be an intense blend of survival and suspense. Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi of Raimi Productions are producing, and the film will be released in theaters.
Up next Haysbert will star in and executive produce American Smuggler. He plays a high-ranking CIA agent in the action-drama that tells the jaw-dropping true story of Craig Petties, a Memphis-born drug kingpin with ties to Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel. Petties ran one of the most notorious criminal networks in U.S. history before his capture in 2008.
The film dives deep into the combined efforts of SEAL Team Six, Delta Force, and Mexican Marines to dismantle Petties’ operation. Beyond the takedowns, American Smuggler highlights the tragic exploitation of children forced to work in cartel tunnels—some of whom lost their lives.
