O’Shea Jackson Jr, Dave Franco, and Peter Dinklage walk into a movie… sounds like the start of a wild ride, right? It is. Jackson, Franco, and Dinklage are teaming up for The Shitheads, an upcoming dark comedy from writer-director Macon Blair (The Toxic Avenger, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore).

The film follows Mark (Franco), a cynical degenerate, and Davis (Jackson), an overly optimistic but bumbling idealist. Both men have hit rock bottom when a shady transport service pairs them for a seemingly simple task: escort a troubled wealthy teen named Sheridan to rehab. But Sheridan isn’t exactly a willing passenger. What starts as a straightforward road trip spirals into an unhinged odyssey filled with drug-fueled disasters, near-death experiences, and all kinds of criminal chaos. In the middle of the madness, Mark and Davis are forced to face their failures and learn that sometimes it’s not the destination that matters—it’s the shitheads you meet along the way.

The film’s journey to production has been a long time coming. The Shitheads is a passion project for Blair, who initially had Luke Wilson and Tracy Morgan attached back in 2017. Now, with Franco, Jackson, and Dinklage on board, it’s clear this project is hitting a whole new level.

Behind the scenes, Blair teams up with producers Brandon James (The Righteous Gemstones), Alex Orr (The Decameron), and Nathan Klingher (The Surfer). The film is being co-produced and financed by Gramercy Park Media, with Joshua Harris and Mark Fasano as executive producers.

As for the cast? Franco is fresh off rave reviews for Together, his body-horror thriller that made waves at Sundance. Dinklage recently wrapped production on Roofman with Channing Tatum and starred in the Oscar contender Wicked. Jackson, best known for Straight Outta Compton, just reprised his role in Den of Thieves: Pantera, which already has a third film in development.

With this cast and premise, The Shitheads promises to be the kind of chaotic, laugh-out-loud road trip movie we didn’t know we needed—but now can’t wait for.
