The Dexter franchise has been a game-changer since it debuted in 2006. For eight seasons, viewers followed Dexter Morgan—a blood-spatter analyst by day and a vigilante serial killer by night—as he struggled to balance his double life. The original series earned multiple Emmy nominations and a massive following for its gritty storytelling and morally complex protagonist.
In 2021, Showtime reignited the franchise with Dexter: New Blood, which introduced Dexter’s son Harrison and picked up years after the original series finale. The revival became a hit, paving the way for more expansion within the Dexter universe. Most recently, Dexter: Original Sin, a prequel tracing Dexter’s transformation from student to serial killer, set a record as Showtime’s most-streamed premiere ever, with over 2.1 million global viewers.
The series is produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios and will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
