ABC has added actors Deric Augustine to the cast of “The Rookie” as recurring guest stars in its upcoming seventh season. He is one of two Rookies, including Patrick Keleher, that join the new sesason. The news was shared during Disney’s presentation at the summer 2024 Television Critics Association press tour.
“The Rookie,” created by Alexi Hawley, features Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, the LAPD’s oldest rookie. The show also stars Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, Shawn Ashmore, Tru Valentino, and Lisseth Chavez.
Deric Augustine steps into the role of Miles, a character who is one of the LAPD’s newest recruits. Though he is a rookie in Los Angeles, Miles brings with him two years of experience from Texas, promising to add a unique perspective to the police force. Patrick Keleher will portray Seth, another fresh recruit who appears to be the ideal officer but struggles with the job’s demands for quick and decisive action.

Produced and distributed internationally by Lionsgate Television, in collaboration with ABC Signature, the series boasts an experienced executive production team including Hawley, Fillion, Mark Gordon, Michelle Chapman, Brynn Malone, Bill Norcross, and Jon Steinberg. The seventh season is scheduled for a mid-season premiere which will most likely be until January 2025.
Augustine’s credits include his portrayal of Muhammad Ali in Godfather of Harlem and his role as Clay in All American, as well as roles in ‘Swagger,’ ‘Shameless,’ ‘Criminal Minds,’ ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ and ‘Queen Sugar.’ Meanwhile, Keleher, a distinguished theater actor, recently starred in “Fatherland” at Los Angeles’ Fountain Theater and is preparing for an off-Broadway performance. “The Rookie” marks his television debut.
