Dewayne Perkins is developing an untitled ensemble comedy series at Hulu, with the comedian set to star, write, and executive produce should the project receive a green light from the streamer.
The show centers on a group of friends in their 30s who have agreed to let their social circle vote on all of their romantic decisions, a concept the series dubs dating by jury. At the heart of the group are two central characters: Denny, described as chaotically gay, and Nelson, a straight friend who is simply trying his best. Together, the friends work to help one another find new potential partners while also rebuilding their confidence and figuring out what the next phase of their lives looks like.

Executive producing alongside Perkins are Stephen Curry, Erick Peyton, and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett through Unanimous Media, the content company Curry and Peyton founded in 2018. The company has primarily focused on family, faith, and sports-driven projects, including the animated film GOAT and the Apple TV docuseries Underrated. Additional casting for the series has not yet been announced.
Perkins is currently a series regular on Seth Rogen’s Apple TV+ comedy The Studio. He previously co-wrote, produced, and starred in Lionsgate’s horror comedy The Blackening, which originated as a viral Comedy Central short. His additional credits include writing stints on The Amber Ruffin Show and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, along with acting roles in The Upshaws and Saved by the Bell. Variety named him one of its 10 Comics to Watch in 2020.
