In a move that crosses the bounds of the Whoniverse, Disney Branded Television and BBC have come together to unveil the premiere date for the upcoming installment of “Doctor Who.” This marks the first-ever season to debut on Disney+ while simultaneously launching worldwide. Fans can mark their calendars for Friday, May 10, at 7:00 p.m. EDT to embark on the journey, which will be available on Disney+ in the U.S. and internationally (excluding the UK). Meanwhile, UK viewers can catch the excitement starting Saturday, May 11, at 12:00 a.m. GMT on BBC iPlayer, followed by a broadcast on BBC One later that day.
Titled “The Church on Ruby Road,” this season promises to transport audiences through time and space, as they join the Fifteenth Doctor, portrayed by Ncuti Gatwa, and his companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson, in two all-new episodes. Disney+ has also unveiled new key art and a gallery image featuring the dynamic duo, with a highly anticipated trailer set to drop next Friday, March 22.
Showrunner, executive producer, and writer Russell T Davies expressed his excitement, stating, “At last, it’s my great delight to unleash a whole new season of the Doctor and Ruby’s adventures together. Monsters! Chases! Villains! Mysteries! And a terrifying secret that’s been spanning time and space for decades. Don’t miss a second!”
The upcoming season of “Doctor Who” promises a whirlwind of adventures, from the Regency era in England to dystopian futures, as the Doctor and Ruby Sunday navigate through a myriad of challenges, accompanied by friends and facing off against formidable foes.
The guest cast for this season includes Aneurin Barnard, Anita Dobson, Yasmin Finney, Michelle Greenidge, Jonathan Groff, Bonnie Langford, Genesis Lynea, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush, Indira Varma, and Angela Wynter.
