A24 has released the official trailer and mesmerizing poster for the upcoming indie drama, “Earth Mama.”

Directed by Savanah Leaf, a former Olympian making her feature directorial debut, the film made its premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival as a last-minute addition to the festival’s lineup. “Earth Mama” presents a compelling narrative centered around the struggles of a pregnant single mother fighting against a system that threatens to separate her from her children.

The film stars Tia Nomore, Erika Alexander, Doechii, and Dominic Fike, With Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Olivia Luccardi, and Bokeem Woodbine.

The film follows the story of Gia, played by Tia Nomore, as she navigates the challenges of reclaiming her family. With two children in foster care and her unborn child at risk, Gia fights against the odds to provide a better future for her loved ones. Set within the tight-knit community of the Bay Area, “Earth Mama” explores themes of resilience, love, and the preservation of one’s culture and family.

Written and directed by Savanah Leaf, who also competed in the 2012 Olympics in volleyball, “Earth Mama” has already generated considerable buzz for its emotionally charged storyline. The film is produced by Sam Bisbee, Savanah Leaf, Shirley O’Connor, Medb Riordan, and Cody Ryder.
