Eddie Murphy is starring opposite Jonah Hill in an upcoming untitled comedy for Netflix with Kenya Barris on board to direct. The untitled comedy will mark as Barris’ feature directorial debut.
Hill and Barris co-wrote the script which is being kept under wraps. What we do know is that it is said to be an incisive examination of modern love and family dynamics and how clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences shape and affect relationships. Murphy and Hill will find themselves on opposite sides of some of those divides.
Hill is producing through his Strong Baby shingle and Barris is producing via his Khalabo Ink Society banner. Also producing is Kevin Misher of Misher Films.
Mychelle Deschamp and Hale Rothstein for Khalabo Ink Society, Strong Baby’s Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin and Andy Berman of Misher Films are executive producing. Also exec producing are David Hyman and Charisse Hewitt Webster.
This untitled comedy reunites Murphy and Barris, who recently worked together on Amazon’s Coming 2 America. Murphy reprised his role in the follow-up to his popular ‘80s comedy and Barris co-wrote the project.
Up next, Murphy is currently developing the fourth installment to another one of his 80s hit, Beverly Hills Cop. As for Hill, he’s starring in Don’t Look Up. It is the story of two low-level astronomers, who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet earth.
