Edi Gathegi is set to join an all-star cast in Netflix’s upcoming limited series “Zero Day.” The six-episode conspiracy thriller, created by Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, and Michael S. Schmidt, will feature Robert De Niro, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, and Connie Britton.
As part of a collaboration between Netflix and Newman’s Grand Electric Productions, “Zero Day” explores the quest for truth in a world grappling with crises, where external and internal forces seem to tear it apart.
At the core of the story is De Niro’s character, Mullen, a complex and popular figure who is pulled out of retirement to lead a commission investigating a global cyber-attack.
Gathegi’s character, Carl, is an intense bureaucrat and devoted supporter of former U.S. President George Mullen, played by De Niro.
The limited series, directed by Leslie Linka Glatter, is backed by executive producers Newman, Oppenheim, Schmidt, De Niro, Jonathan Glickman for Panoramic Media, and Glatter herself.
Gathegi’s notable television credits include Apple TV+’s “For All Mankind,” USA Network’s “Briarpatch” alongside Rosario Dawson, Crackle’s “StartUp,” and TNT’s “Proof.” He has also made appearances on NBC’s “The Blacklist” and its spin-off, “The Blacklist: Redemption.”
On the film front, Gathegi has left his mark with notable roles in “The Harder They Fall,” “The Twilight Saga,” and “X-Men: First Class,” among others. His upcoming projects include the sci-fi drama “Aporia” alongside Judy Greer and Payman Maadi.
