‘Emily in Paris’ Season 5 Will Take a Roman Holiday—But One Cast Member Is Staying Behind

Emily Cooper is packing her bags and heading to Italy—but she’s not bringing everyone with her.

Netflix’s hit series Emily in Paris is officially gearing up for Season 5, and this time, our favorite marketing exec (played by Lily Collins) will be living la dolce vita—at least for a while. Production kicks off this May in Rome before the show returns to its Parisian roots later in the summer. The new season is slated to premiere in 2025.

Here’s the tea: Emily’s new gig has her setting up shop in Rome to launch Agence Grateau’s Italian office, and naturally, her love life is just as international. Season 5 will continue the romantic rollercoaster with three men in the mix—Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), and new Italian flame Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). Sounds like a rom-com trifecta waiting to happen.

Who’s In, Who’s Out?

Returning for more chaotic glam are:

  • Lily Collins as Emily
  • Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, the brooding French chef
  • Lucien Laviscount as Alfie, the British banker
  • Eugenio Franceschini as Marcello, the Italian cashmere heir
  • Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie
  • Ashley Park as Mindy
  • Samuel Arnold as Julien
  • Bruno Gouery as Luc
  • William Abadie as Antoine

But noticeably absent from the list? Camille Razat, who played Camille—Emily’s frenemy and Gabriel’s ex. After four seasons, she’s stepping away from the series. Her character’s Season 4 arc—faking a pregnancy, ending things with Gabriel, and declaring she’s ready for motherhood via adoption—wrapped things up with just enough closure (and drama) to make the exit feel complete.

While Razat’s departure might sting for longtime fans, her absence clears the path for Emily’s new life in Italy… and possibly new drama.

The Gabriel of It All

Lucas Bravo had folks side-eying his future with the series after he went on record last year about his dissatisfaction with Gabriel’s direction, saying the role had become “not fun anymore” and likening his character’s arc to being “slowly turned into guacamole.” Still, he’s back—and so is Gabriel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, which will once again serve as a backdrop for culinary and emotional tension.

So, What’s Season 5 About?

Plot details are still under wraps, but here’s what we know: Season 5 picks up just days after the Season 4 finale. Emily is adjusting to life in Rome, Alfie has moved on with someone new, and Gabriel—realizing what he lost—shows up at Emily’s Roman doorstep in true rom-com fashion. But the real twist might be Marcello, the confident and charming Italian heir who starts catching Emily’s eye just as she’s trying to build a new chapter.

Let’s just say: the love triangle might be evolving into a full-blown romantic square.

Behind the Scenes

The series continues under the creative eye of Sex and the City alum Darren Star, who executive produces alongside Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, Andrew Fleming, and more. It’s produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Darren Star Productions, and Jax Media.

Star confirmed that while Emily will be spending more time in Rome, Paris will still play a major role. “She’s working in Rome sometimes,” he explained. “I don’t necessarily think that it means a permanent— in my mind, it’s definitely not a permanent — move to Rome. We’re not leaving Paris.”

Still, between office drama, sizzling romance, and stunning backdrops from Rome to Paris, Emily in Paris Season 5 is shaping up to be anything but predictable.
