Apple TV+ is offering the first glimpse of its upcoming comedy series, “Bad Monkey,” from executive producer Bill Lawrence and starring Vince Vaughn, who also serves as an executive producer. This 10-episode series will debut with its first two episodes on August 14, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through October 9. Check out the first-look photos above and below.
Based on Carl Hiaasen’s best-selling novel, “Bad Monkey” tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a former Miami police officer now working as a health inspector in the Florida Keys. When tourists fish up a human arm, Yancy sees a chance to prove a murder and get his old job back. However, he’ll have to navigate through a slew of quirky Floridian characters and one mischievous monkey.
Joining Vaughn are L. Scott Caldwell (“The Fugitive”), Rob Delaney (“Catastrophe”), Meredith Hagner (“Search Party”), Natalie Martinez (“La Promesa del Returno”), Alex Moffat (“Saturday Night Live,” “Holiday”), Michelle Monaghan (“Gone Baby Gone”), Ronald Peet (“First Reformed”), and Jodie Turner-Smith (“Queen and Slim”). John Ortiz (“Fast and Furious”) makes a special guest appearance, with Zach Braff (“Scrubs”) and Charlotte Lawrence also guest-starring.
“Bad Monkey” is the latest project from Bill Lawrence for Apple TV+, following the success of “Shrinking” with Jason Segel and the hit “Ted Lasso,” which became the most Emmy-nominated freshman comedy series ever and won Outstanding Comedy Series for its first two seasons.
“Bad Monkey” is produced by Warner Bros. Television with Lawrence serving as the series’ showrunner and executive producer through his Doozer Productions. Other executive producers include Vaughn, Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, Marcos Siega, and Liza Katzer.
