Fox has officially greenlit a third season for the popular procedural drama ‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit.’
What sets this renewal apart is the innovative approach to production. To optimize cost efficiency and ensure continuity, series producers Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment have decided to keep “Alert” in continuous production. This means that the series will seamlessly transition from its recently abbreviated second season to the upcoming third season. Although the episode count for Season 3 is yet to be determined, sources indicate that Fox aims to maintain a steady stream of fresh episodes, especially given the potential disruptions posed by an impending IATSE strike this summer.

The decision to film Seasons 2 and 3 back-to-back not only streamlines production logistics but also safeguards against potential delays. With this strategy, Fox can ensure that viewers will have uninterrupted access to new episodes, even in the face of unforeseen challenges.
Set within the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit (MPU), “Alert” follows the investigations led by detectives Jason Grant (Scott Caan) and Nikki Batista (Dania Ramirez). Each episode delves into gripping cases of missing or abducted individuals, showcasing the MPU team’s relentless efforts to reunite them with their loved ones.
Along with Caan and Ramirez, the cast includes Ryan Broussard as Mike Sherman, Adeola Role as Kemi Adebayo, Petey Gibson as C, Gil Bellows as Hollis Braun and Alisha-Marie Ahamed as Wayne Pascal.
Season 2 of the series has seen the MPU team navigating new challenges, including a change in leadership with Inspector Hollis Braun (portrayed by guest star Gil Bellows) overseeing operations. The addition of characters like master hacker Wayne Pascal (played by Alisha-Marie Ahamed) has added depth and intrigue to the storyline, keeping viewers engaged throughout.
Despite fluctuations in linear ratings, “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” has maintained a strong presence across platforms, with a significant surge in streaming viewership on Hulu. This multiplatform success underscores the show’s enduring appeal and ability to resonate with a diverse audience.
Carla Kettner continues to spearhead the series as showrunner and executive producer, supported by a talented team of executive producers including Jon Cowan, Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Sean Hennen, John Eisendrath, Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner, and Brad Turner.
While “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” has secured its future, there is still anticipation surrounding Fox’s other drama series, “The Cleaning Lady.” Industry observers note that prospects for its renewal are favorable, aligning with Fox’s continued commitment to diverse and compelling content.
