How I Met Your Father: Brandon Michael Hall Joins How I Met Your Mother Spin-off

Brandon Micheal Hall joins the cast of the How I Met Your Mother spin-off, How I Met Your Father, for Hulu.

Hall will recur opposite series lead Hilary Duff in the series which was given a straight-to-series spinoff. Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Suraj Sharma have also been cast.

Created and written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, How I Met Your Father features a similar narration format to the original show and ​centers on Sophie (Duff) who tells her son about how she met his father. The story starts in 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

Hall will play Ian. Handsome, smart, funny, Ian is Sophie’s Tinder match who finally meets her in person for the first time.

Lowell’s Jessie, is an aspiring musician, who works as an Uber driver to make ends meet. He lives with his best friend Sid (Sharma) who is a bar owner. Tran will play Jessie’s adopted sister Ellen who has moved to New York from a small farming town after separating from her wife.

Raisa plays Valentina, she is an impulsive and adventurous aspiring stylist. Ainsley’s character, Charlie, fell in love with Valentina at London Fashion Week and followed her to New York.

How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will executive produce the 10-episode series. Aptaker and Berger will also write and executive produce the series. Duff will also produces the series, which comes from 20th Television. Adam Londy serves as co-executive producer.

There isn’t a specific premiere date as of yet.

Hall’s credits include God Friended Me and The Mayor. He recently wrapped production on the Amazon Studios/BBC One psychological drama series Chloe and can currently be seen in Search Party on HBO Max.
