Ice Cube & Tommy Lee Jones Team Up for New Crime Drama Outside Man

Ice Cube and Tommy Lee Jones are set to star together in the upcoming feature Outside Man, a crime drama from Oscar-winning filmmaker Brian Helgeland.

Helgeland will write and direct the film, which is being developed under Teton Ridge. Producers include Jillian Share and Jen Gorton via Teton Ridge Entertainment, alongside Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz through Cube Vision, with Bill Gerber also on board as producer. Cube Vision’s Ben Hurwitz will serve as executive producer.

The project follows a former Chicago mob enforcer (Ice Cube) who, after being released from prison, attempts to rebuild his life far from his past. He disappears into rural Texas, where he finds unexpected work under Gus Wanamaker (Tommy Lee Jones), a skilled furniture craftsman and retired Texas Ranger.

As the two men form an unlikely bond, their shared peace is threatened when their pasts resurface—forcing both to confront the lives they tried to leave behind.

This marks another collaboration between Helgeland and Jones, who previously worked together on Finest Kind.

The package recently hit the market and is already generating strong early interest from buyers, signaling potential momentum as it moves into development.

Helgeland is represented by Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner Auerbach Hynick Jaime LeVine Sample & Klein and WME. Ice Cube is represented by UTA and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Jones is represented by CAA.
