‘Surviving Sasha’ Evolves From Film Sequel Into Tubi Series

What began as a planned sequel to Bid for Love has officially expanded into a full-fledged series. Now titled Surviving Sasha, the project is set for an exclusive premiere on Tubi this week, marking a major evolution for the franchise as it leans deeper into serialized storytelling.

The series continues the story of Sasha, played by Dawn Halfkenny, a reformed inmate trying to rebuild her life through therapy and stability. Her journey becomes increasingly complicated as she enters a relationship with Detective Carter (Jermel Howard), while the return of her presumed-dead ex Memphis (Blue Kimble) threatens to unravel everything she’s built.

Directed by Arthur Muhammad, Surviving Sasha brings together a stacked ensemble cast that blends returning players with new additions. Among the newcomers are Clifton Powell (Haywood), Eva Marcille (Linda), Cynthia Bailey (Dr. Parker Bailey), Darrin Dewitt Henson (Mr. Neely), Erica Peeples (Detective Worthing), Angela White (Alexis), David Banner (Aadam Baraka), DreamDoll (Princess), and Stephen Cofield.

They join returning cast members including Halfkenny, Kimble, Nikki Dixon, Adrian Lockett, Ptosha Storey, Mia Hunt, Kwaylon Rogers, and Jayda Cheaves, expanding the world built in the original film.

Behind the scenes, the series is executive produced by Lawainna Patterson and Sisters for Freedom, alongside Shauna D. Balfour, London Williams, and Jermel Howard, continuing the creative team that helped establish the original film’s foundation.

With its move to Tubi and expansion into a multi-episode arc, Surviving Sasha signals a growing push toward serialized, Black-led thriller storytelling on streaming platforms—blending romance, suspense, and psychological tension into one continuous narrative.
