Idris Elba is stepping into the driver’s seat for Hammer Down, an adrenaline-pumping action-thriller set to make waves at the upcoming American Film Market, with Black Bear launching its international sales.
This project is a high-octane ride, tapping into Elba’s signature charisma and intensity, as he plays Mac, a seasoned trucker navigating the dangerous world of illicit cargo transportation. With a “no questions asked” policy, Mac operates in the shadows—until one job changes everything.

The film’s plot raises the stakes when Mac’s teenage daughter tags along for a routine run, only to find themselves relentlessly hunted by a ruthless gang determined to secure his mysterious cargo. With danger closing in from all sides, Mac and his daughter must fight off the attackers while evading the police and ensuring the shipment doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
The role of his daughter has yet to be cast, leaving room for a strong addition to the ensemble who can match Elba’s presence.
Directed by Simon Hatt, known for his collaborations with James Gunn, Hammer Down has an experienced production team behind it. The film is produced by Oscar winner Charles Roven (Oppenheimer, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Madison Weireter for Atlas Entertainment, with Elba and Gina Carter (See How They Run) producing under their 22 Summers banner.
