The plot of “Hijack” revolves around a hijacked plane on a seven-hour flight to London, with authorities scrambling for answers. Elba plays Sam Nelson, a skilled negotiator who tries to save the passengers’ lives, while Panjabi plays counterterrorism officer Zahra Gahfoor, who becomes involved in the investigation.

The series promises to be a heart-stopping thriller, with tension building as the story unfolds in real-time. The creators have promised that viewers will be on the edge of their seats as they follow the story of the hijacked plane and the lives of those on board.

Kay and Field Smith, who previously worked together on Netflix’s “Criminal” franchise, wrote and directed “Hijack” and are executive producers alongside Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Kris Thykier.

“Hijack” is produced by 60Forty Films, the production company set up by Emmy Award-winning Executive Producers Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta (“Slow Horses,” “The Essex Serpent”) under its exclusive content deal with Apple TV+, alongside Kay and Field-Smith’s own production company Idiotlamp Productions, and also marks the first series to debut from Elba’s first-look deal with Apple TV+ and his Green Door Pictures.
