Jasmine Mathews, Sonja Sohn, John Magaro, and Shein Mompremier have joined the cast of the untitled George Foreman biopic for Sony’s AFFIRM Films label. They join previously Forest Whitaker, Sullivan Jones, and Khris Davis as George Foreman.
George Tillman Jr. is set to direct the biopic and co-wrote it with Frank Baldwin. It is based on the original screenplay by Dan Gordon.
The film will chronicle the remarkable life and times of George Foreman (Davis). It will tell his story from Olympic Gold medalist to World Heavyweight champion, Rumble in the Jungle fight with Muhammad Ali (Jones) in Zaire, to preacher, then stepping back in the ring to regain the heavyweight champion at age 45, the oldest heavyweight champion in boxing history.
Whitaker will play Doc Broadus, the man who first introduced Foreman to boxing and became his trainer and mentor. As of now there are no role details on the latest additions to the cast.
Peter Guber and David Zelon are producing the George Foreman biopic for Mandalay Pictures. The George Foreman biopic is currently in pre-production and due to start filming in early 2022.
The film is slated for release in theaters on April 7, 2023.
