The event will feature a full orchestra performing the enchanting score composed by Hans Zimmer, under the baton of conductor Sarah Hicks.

Jason Weaver (Young Simba) and Jeremy Irons (Scar) will grace the stage alongside Nathan Lane (Timon), and Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa). Joining them will be Billy Eichner, who voiced Timon in the 2019 remake, and Bradley Gibson, known for his role as Simba in the Broadway adaptation.

Adding to the star power of the event is Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist Jennifer Hudson. While Hudson’s specific role has not been disclosed, speculation is rife that she may lend her powerhouse vocals to iconic numbers such as “The Circle of Life.”

The journey of “The Lion King” began in 1994 when Disney released the animated film that would go on to captivate audiences worldwide. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” the story follows the adventures of Simba, a young lion prince who must reclaim his rightful place as king of the Pride Lands. With a memorable soundtrack featuring songs by Elton John and Tim Rice, the film became an instant classic, winning two Academy Awards and spawning a cultural phenomenon.

In 1997, “The Lion King” made its Broadway debut, becoming one of the most successful and beloved musicals in theater history. Directed by Julie Taymor, the stage production brought the story to life in a visually stunning and culturally rich spectacle. Incorporating African music, dance, and innovative puppetry, the Broadway show earned critical acclaim and continues to enchant audiences around the world.

Now, as the 30th anniversary approaches, fans of “The Lion King” have the opportunity to experience the magic in a new way at the Hollywood Bowl.

The concert will not only pay homage to the original animated film but also incorporate elements from the Broadway production, including costumes, set designs, and puppetry. This fusion of live performance and cinematic experience promises to transport audiences to the heart of the African savanna, where the timeless tale of Simba’s journey unfolds.

Tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime event will go on sale April 19 via Ticketmaster, with an exclusive presale for American Express cardholders. Produced by Disney Concerts, Fulwell 73 Productions, AMP Worldwide, and Live Nation-Hewitt Silva, “Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event” will be a must-see for fans of the timeless classic.
