Jeffrey Wright is set to join the highly anticipated Season 2 of HBO’s adaptation of the hit video game “The Last of Us.” The actor, who previously lent his voice to the character Isaac in “The Last of Us Part II” game, will once again portray the quietly formidable leader of the Washington Liberation Front militia group.

In this gripping saga set two decades after the collapse of civilization, Pedro Pascal takes on the role of Joel, a seasoned survivor tasked with smuggling the resilient teenager Ellie, portrayed by Bella Ramsey, out of a restrictive quarantine zone. What begins as a simple assignment soon spirals into a harrowing odyssey, forcing them to rely on each other for survival in a hostile and unforgiving landscape.

Joining Pascal and Ramsey in the cast are a lineup of talented actors including Gabriel Luna, Kaitlyn Dever, Young Manzino, Isabela Merced, and Catherine O’Hara, each bringing depth and nuance to their respective characters.

Among the new additions, Luna embodies Manny, a steadfast soldier grappling with past traumas, while Barer steps into the role of Mel, a dedicated doctor confronting the harsh realities of conflict and division. Gabrielle portrays Nora, a military medic wrestling with the consequences of her actions, while Lord embodies Owen, a compassionate soul thrust into the midst of battle against his will.

Season 2 also sees the return of familiar faces from the first installment, including Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, Storm Reid, Merle Dandridge, Jeffrey Pierce, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, Elaine Miles, Ashley Johnson, and Troy Baker.

Wright’s casting marks a continuation of the tradition of integrating voice actors from the original game into the live-action series, following the inclusion of Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson in Season 1. With production underway, fans can anticipate the next chapter of this gripping narrative to unfold on HBO screens in 2025, under the creative guidance of Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
