Jesse Williams (“Grey’s Anatomy”) is set to star in and produce Prime Video’s upcoming Italian action-drama series, “Costiera.” The English-language series, directed by Emmy award winner Adam Bernstein, is currently in production.
“Costiera” follows Daniel De Luca, played by Williams, a half-Italian former U.S. Marine who returns to Italy and becomes a problem solver at a luxurious hotel on the Positano coastline. The plot takes a twist when one of the owner’s daughters disappears, leading Daniel to navigate the challenges of the exclusive hotel while undertaking the mission to find her.
Co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Lux Vide, with Luca Bernabei as a producer, the series has an innovative distribution deal. Amazon holds exclusive rights in Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal, while Fremantle handles global sales in other territories.
Adam Bernstein expressed his excitement about working with Jesse Williams, stating, “Jesse provides a perfect combination of intelligence, charisma, and humor, and we’re incredibly lucky to have him at the center of our show.”
The series adds to Prime Video’s catalog of original Italian productions, including “No Activity – Niente da segnalare,” “Elf Me,” “Gigolò per caso,” and “Everybody Loves Diamonds.” Lux Vide, known for global successes like “Medici,” “Leonardo,” and “Devils,” is behind the production.
“Costiera” promises an intriguing storyline and captivating setting on the Amalfi Coast. With production underway, the series is poised to become a standout title at the London TV Screenings, showcasing the collaboration between major players in the entertainment industry.
