‘Suits: L.A.’: John Amos Joins Pilot For ‘Suits’ Spinoff

John Amos to Guest Star in 'Suits: L.A.' Pilot

NBC’s drama pilot ‘Suits: L.A.’ will feature guest appearances by John Amos, Victoria Justice, and Kevin Weisman. They join previously cast Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, Troy Winbush, and Bryan Greenberg.

Suits: L.A. revolves around Ted Black (Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York, who, along with his old friend Stuart Lane (McDermitt), establishes Black Lane Law in Los Angeles, specializing in criminal and entertainment law. The firm is at a crisis point, and to survive, Ted must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. He is surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel, leading Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.

The pilot, an expansion of the Suits universe from Aaron Korsh, casts Scott Davis as Erica Rollins, the female lead role, with Winbush guest-starring as Kevin. If the pilot gets picked up, his character will transition to a recurring role.

Erica is a savvy and strong-willed rising star working for Ted Black, adding depth to the storyline as she navigates the challenges of the high-stakes legal environment. Kevin is a former FBI agent turned private detective and an old friend and ex-partner of Ted Black.

Amos is playing himself as a client at Ted’s firm who also has a longstanding friendship with Ted. Justice is playing Dylan Pryor, a young movie star who’s confident and ambitious. She’s on the way up and looking to be represented by Ted. Weisman is playing Lester Thompson, a smart and powerful man who is used to getting his way. He’s just been charged with murder and has to listen to others to stay out of prison.

Aaron Korsh, the creator of Suits, serves as an executive producer alongside David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein, all of whom were part of the original series. The pilot is directed and executive produced by Victoria Mahoney, known for her directorial expertise.

As the pilot heads into production with Victoria Mahoney at the helm, Suits: L.A. aims to capture the essence of the Suits legacy while introducing a compelling new chapter to the legal drama’s universe. The series promises to deliver the same energy and appeal that made the original Suits a success, maintaining consistency within the established timeframe. While details about potential appearances by original cast members remain unclear, fans can anticipate an exciting addition to the Suits franchise.
