This project, originating from Sony Pictures’ CoCre lab, represents a collaboration between ColorCreative and Sony, aiming to empower diverse voices in screenwriting. Through the CoCre lab, writers are given the opportunity to develop their first studio features from original concepts.
The production team is stacked with heavyweights, including Hoorae’s Sara Diya Rastogi, ColorCreative’s Deniese Davis, and Macro Film Studios’ Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks. Keke Palmer, along with Sharon Palmer, is serving as an executive producer, while Singleton also joins as co-producer. Macro Film Studios will co-finance the film.
Opening the same weekend, the comedy will face competition from several other major releases, including Lionsgate’s Flight Risk directed by Mel Gibson and starring Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Dockery, Angel Studios’ Brave the Dark, and IFC’s Inheritance, directed by Neil Burger and starring Phoebe Dynevor.
