Kelly Park to Direct and Executive Produce Comedy Pilot JumpStart

Kelly Park to direct and executive produce the CBS multi-camera comedy pilot JumpStart, based on Robb Armstrong’s long-running comic strip. The project, which comes from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, Wendi Trilling’s TrillTV, and CBS Studios, will be written by Wayne Conley, who is also an executive producer.

JumpStart, which first debuted in 1989, is a popular comic strip set in Philadelphia. It follows the lives of Joe, a cop, his wife Marcy, a nurse, and Joe’s partner Crunchy. The show will depict the young parents with old school values who are willing to make sacrifices for their children while having some laughs in the process.

Conley will serve as executive producer alongside Kaplan and Melanie Frankel of Kapital Entertainment, Trilling for TrillTV, and Armstrong’s producer Bridget McMeel for Andrews McMeel Entertainment. Armstrong will also be involved as a co-executive producer, with Jessie Abbott serving as Kapital’s creative executive on the project.

Park, who is represented by CAA and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman, is known for directing several successful comedy series, including Mad About You, Punky Brewster, Call Your Mother, Raven’s Home, Coop and Cami Ask The World, The Big Show Show, Bunk’d, and Lopez vs. Lopez. She most recently directed episodes of Call Me Kat, How I Met Your Father, The Neighborhood, Grace and Frankie, The Upshaws, and The Game.
