Amazon Studios has announced that it will be producing a My Spy sequel, titled “My Spy: The Eternal City”.
Craig Robinson, Anna Faris, and Flula Borg join the ensemble cast which is led by returning stars Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman.
The 2020 action-comedy from STXfilms stars Bautista as JJ, a CIA operative who is assigned to surveil the family of a precocious nine-year-old girl, Sophie (Coleman). The film, which was released by Prime Video during the Covid pandemic, became one of the most-watched films on SVOD in 2020.
In the sequel, JJ and Sophie reunite as she convinces him to chaperone her school choir trip to Italy. However, they both become unwitting pawns in an international terrorist plot targeting the CIA Chief, David Kim, and his son, Collin, who happens to be Sophie’s best friend.
The My Spy sequel will also include returning actors Kristen Schaal, Ken Jeong, Nicola Correia-Damude, Noah Dalton Danby, and Devere Rogers.
Director Peter Segal is returning to helm the sequel, which he also wrote along with Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber. Producers include Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, Bautista, Jonathan Meisner, Robert Simonds, Gigi Pritzker, and Madison Wells. The film is set to begin production this month and will be available to stream on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Amazon’s Head of Studios Jennifer Salke expressed her excitement for the project and praised the talented cast and filmmakers. Meanwhile, Segal said he was thrilled to be reuniting with the team and to have comedy veterans Anna Faris, Craig Robinson, and Flula Borg join the cast.
“My Spy: The Eternal City” promises to deliver another dynamic story with twists, hilarious performances, and even a little romance for Prime Video customers.
