After a chilly winter hiatus, Grey’s Anatomy is scrubbing back in to continue its 21st season on March 6—and it’s bringing some fresh faces. Lena Waithe and Andrea Bordeaux are heading to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
In a rare acting gig that she neither created nor executive produced, Emmy-winning powerhouse Lena Waithe is set for a guest arc on ABC’s long-running medical drama. Waithe will play Dr. Evynn Moore, a brilliant and resourceful former student of Catherine Fox (played by the iconic Debbie Allen). And she’s not just dropping by for coffee and gossip—Dr. Moore’s here to assist with a unique case for her wife, who will be portrayed by Andrea Bordeaux. Talk about keeping it in the family, right?
Waithe’s character will grace us with her presence for at least two episodes, kicking off with Episode 2110, aptly titled “Jump (for My Love),” airing March 13. And it sounds like everyone’s got their hands full in this one. Meredith and Nick are back to treat a liver transplant patient, Bailey’s playing host to an intern retreat at her place, and Winston and Ben step up to help an unexpected crash victim. Whew, that’s one packed episode.
Lena Waithe is no stranger to making waves. She’s the creative force behind The Chi, a writer on Netflix’s Master of None (which earned her an Emmy), and the brilliant mind behind Queen & Slim. Recently, she’s been busy producing the Emmy-nominated documentary Being Mary Tyler Moore, as well as 2023 Sundance hits A Thousand and One and Kokomo City. If that’s not enough, she’s also a Tony-nominated producer for Ain’t No Mo’ and the host of the podcast series Legacy Talk. Basically, Waithe’s got her fingerprints all over Hollywood, and we’re here for it.
It looks like Grey Sloan’s about to get a little bit of that Lena Waithe magic—and we can’t wait to see what kind of drama Dr. Moore stirs up. Set your reminders, because March 13 can’t come soon enough!
