Lifetime Sets Cast for 'Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted by Love'

Lifetime has announced the cast for its upcoming film, Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted by Love. The movie will premiere on Saturday, August 17th at 8/7c under the “Terry McMillan Presents” banner.

The cast includes Garcelle Beauvais, Vaughn W. Hebron, Lela Rochon, Emmy-winner Loretta Devine, and Donna Biscoe. This film reunites Rochon and Devine, who previously starred together in Waiting to Exhale.

Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted by Love follows the story of Ava (played by Beauvais), a world-renowned chef based in Europe who returns to South Carolina to care for her elderly aunt (Biscoe) after she has a fall. Upon her arrival, Ava is picked up by Luke (Hebron), a charming driver twenty years her junior. Despite their age difference, Ava and Luke form a passionate connection over their shared love for food, family, and fun. Ava must navigate her growing feelings for Luke while considering her career and personal relationships.

This film falls under McMillan’s current partnerhsip with Lifetime to executive produce a series of original movies under the banner “Terry McMillan Presents.” Widely acclaimed for her bestsellers like “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” and “Waiting to Exhale,” McMillan’s collaboration with Lifetime will focus on portraying the love and lives of Black women, aligning with the network’s 40th-anniversary celebration.

The film is executive produced by Beauvais and D’Angela Proctor for Undaunted Content, in association with GroupM Motion Entertainment. McMillan and Beauvais also serve as executive producers alongside Richard Foster and Chet Fenster from GroupM Motion Entertainment. Taliah Breon directs the movie from a script written by Tamara T. Gregory.

This project is also part of Beauvais’s ongoing partnership with Lifetime, which was announced in April. The collaboration includes the production of three new original movies that Beauvais will executive produce. This partnership builds on their previous success, particularly the critically acclaimed film Black Girl Missing. Up next she will executive produce Abducted at an HBCU: A Black Girl Missing Movie.
