Lifetime Partners with Robin Roberts for Authorized Gloria Gaynor Biopic

Lifetime, in continued collaboration with Robin Roberts under her Robin Roberts Presents banner, is set to produce a new biopic immortalizing the legendary career and personal triumphs of two-time Grammy Award-winning singer Gloria Gaynor. The upcoming film, part of Lifetime’s “Voices of a Lifetime” slate, will delve into the singer’s remarkable journey in the music industry spanning over 50 years.

Executive produced by Robin Roberts through her Rock’n Robin Productions, this authorized biopic promises an intimate portrayal of Gloria Gaynor’s life, both on and off the stage. Scheduled for release in 2025, the movie aims to celebrate the iconic artist’s contributions to music and showcase her resilience as a powerful figure.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with Lifetime once again, Robin Roberts stated, “Grateful to the incomparable Gloria Gaynor for allowing us to share her remarkable story like never before. She truly is one of the powerful voices of a lifetime.”

The biopic will trace Gloria Gaynor’s ascent from humble beginnings to her status as one of the most iconic voices in music history. Often referred to as America’s “Queen of Disco,” the film will feature some of Gaynor’s chart-topping hits, including the cultural phenomenon “I Will Survive,” a powerful anthem of empowerment for millions globally. The narrative will also explore the personal challenges Gaynor faced, including her journey to overcome a long and tumultuous marriage to a controlling husband.

The biopic, yet to be titled, will be produced by Rock’n Robin Productions, with Robin Roberts and Linda Berman serving as executive producers. This project follows previous successful collaborations between Lifetime and Robin Roberts, including films such as “Stolen By My Mother: The Kamiyah Mobley Story” and “Mahalia,” which received acclaim and nominations across various award platforms.
