Lifetime is continuing its push into faith-based storytelling, announcing and releasing the trailer for its latest original film, Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery, set to premiere Saturday, June 6 at 8/7c.
Led by Erica Campbell, the film centers on Cassie Newton, a celebrated Christian feminist author whose life begins to unravel when a secret affair threatens everything she’s built. CJ Williams stars as her husband Daniel, whose loyalty is tested, while Traí Byers plays Troy Stamps, the man at the center of the scandal. Dawn Halfkenny also stars, alongside Jasmine Guy as a renowned empowerment speaker and Matt Barnes, who makes his film debut as Detective Wilson.
The newly released trailer leans into the tension, teasing a story rooted in public image, private choices, and the consequences that follow. When Cassie becomes the target of a blackmail scheme tied to her affair, she’s forced to navigate mounting scrutiny while trying to hold onto her marriage, career, and the trust of her audience. As the situation escalates—and betrayal within her inner circle comes to light—Cassie is pushed to confront the gap between who she presents to the world and who she really is.
Directed by Patricia Cuffie Jones and written by Nneka Grestle, the film is produced by Relevé Entertainment and Swirl Films, with Dr. Holly Carter, Angela Shin, Keesha Brickhouse, Eric Tomosunas, Ron Robinson, and Errol Sadler serving as executive producers.
With its focus on faith, accountability, and personal truth, Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery taps into the kind of moral conflict Lifetime audiences have consistently shown up for—this time through a more spiritual lens.
