Tubi has acquired the first season of Why Are You Single?, a dating game show hosted by comedian Marie Faustin. The show will stream for free on Tubi later this year.
Faustin co-created the series alongside Dave Mizzoni, and both serve as executive producers. All Things Comedy serves as the studio partner, with Cassie Lambert Scalettar set as showrunner, executive producer, and director for the first season.
The format puts a single dater at the center of each episode, joined by four potential suitors. As the episode unfolds, each person’s dating history comes to light, and Faustin along with a live studio audience hands out red flags. The dater then has to decide which contestant is worth the baggage.
Faustin and Mizzoni have been developing and performing the format on stage since 2023. The first three episodes will be filmed live at The Bell House in Brooklyn on May 21 and 22.
Faustin is a comedian and actress whose credits include HBO’s The Damn Michael Che, Ziwe, Survival of the Thickest, Babes, and Search Party. She also co-hosts the weekly podcast Mess.
Mizzoni brings an extensive unscripted background to the project. His credits include co-creating Gayme Show for Roku and Quibi alongside Matt Rogers, and producing RuPaul’s Drag Race Seasons 12 and 13, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 3, and the MTV VMAs.
All Things Comedy, founded by comedians Bill Burr and Al Madrigal, is behind the production. The company recently produced Pizza Movie, which premiered at number one across Hulu and Disney+, and has an upcoming film from John Reynolds and Marty Schousboe streaming on Hulu later this year.
Why Are You Single? marks All Things Comedy’s second unscripted series developed with comedians, following the recent filming of The Bad Game Show with Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino.
A premiere date has not yet been announced.
