Paramount+ has renewed the hit drama “Lioness” for a second season. The series, initially titled “Special Ops: Lioness,” has garnered immense popularity and critical acclaim, prompting the streaming platform to greenlight its continuation.

Inspired by a real U.S. Military program, “Lioness” follows the life of Joe (portrayed by Zoe Saldaña), a CIA operative navigating the complexities of her personal and professional life amidst the war on terror. The series, produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios for Paramount+, stars Morgan Freeman, Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, and Nicole Kidman.

The debut season of “Lioness” made a significant impact, setting a new record as Paramount+’s most-watched global series premiere on launch day. The show attracted nearly 6 million viewers worldwide during its first week across Paramount+ and a linear preview on Paramount Network, solidifying its position as a standout in the streaming landscape.
