Kathryn Bigelow’s return to feature filmmaking just added fresh talent. Newcomer Malachi Beasley and Aminah Nieves have joined the still-untitled Netflix thriller.
Beasley, who is making his television debut, and Nieves, best known for her breakout role in 1923, will share the screen with previously announced leads Idris Elba (Luther) and Rebecca Ferguson (Dune). They will be joined by a supporting cast that includes Moses Ingram (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Jared Harris (Chernobyl), Greta Lee (Past Lives), Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent), and Tracy Letts (Ford v Ferrari).
While Netflix remains secretive about the film’s title and storyline, insiders hint that the plot will unfold within the walls of the White House during a national crisis. The film marks Bigelow’s return to feature filmmaking, her first since 2017’s critically lauded Detroit.
For Beasley, a recent graduate of the Yale School of Drama, this will be his first on-screen role, making his debut in a project helmed by an Academy Award-winning director a significant milestone.
Nieves, best known for her standout role alongside Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in Paramount+’s 1923, has also appeared in Shudder’s V/H/S/99. In 2023, she was recognized as one of BAFTA’s Breakthrough Talents.
Stay tuned for more updates on this thriller as details emerge.
