Mamoudou Athie Joins Zendaya and Robert Pattinson in 'The Drama'

Mamoudou Athie is nearing a deal to join the cast of A24 and Christopher Borgli’s upcoming film The Drama, which also stars previously cast Zendaya and Robert Pattinson.

The Drama centers on a couple, portrayed by Zendaya and Pattinson, who face a crisis in the days leading up to their wedding when shocking revelations come to light. The film explores the theme of love’s blindness, according to insider sources.

Produced under the Square Peg banner by Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone, the project is set to begin filming later this month. Alana Haim, known for her breakout role in Licorice Pizza, will also star in the feature.

This collaboration marks yet another partnership between A24 and Square Peg, following previous hits such as Hereditary, Midsommar, and Dream Scenario. Upcoming films from the same team include Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, as well as Eddington, featuring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone.

Athie, who recently appeared in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, continues to build an impressive resume. He also voiced the lead character in Pixar’s animated hit Elemental and starred in Netflix’s Uncorked.
