Marlon Wayans' Stand-Up Special "Good Grief" to Premiere Worldwide on Prime Video

Prime Video revealed that “Marlon Wayans: Good Grief,” the latest stand-up special from actor and comedian Marlon Wayans, is set to premiere on the platform in over 240 countries and territories globally on June 4th.

Filmed at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, Wayans’ special delves into the intersection of comedy and therapy as he navigates his grief following the recent loss of both his parents. Throughout the hour-long special, Wayans reflects on poignant topics such as the lessons his father imparted about manhood, the shared experiences within the “Dead Mama Club,” the unexpected challenges of caring for aging parents, as well as humorous musings on the funniest Wayans family member.

“Marlon Wayans: Good Grief” is a production of Wayans and Rick Alvarez’s Ugly Baby Productions in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. Executive producers include Marlon Wayans, Rick Alvarez, Michael Rotenberg, Steve Harris, Craig Wayans, and Troy Miller.

Wayans’ journey into stand-up specials began with his debut on Netflix in 2018 with “Woke-ish,” followed by “Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me,” “Marlon Wayans: You Know What It Is,” and “Marlon Wayans Presents: The Headliners” on Max. Alongside his stand-up ventures, Wayans has been active in various acting projects, including roles in Prime Video’s sports marketing drama “Air,” Netflix’s horror comedy “The Curse of Bridge Hollow,” MGM/UAR’s Aretha Franklin biopic “Respect,” and Apple/A24’s “On the Rocks” directed by Sofia Coppola. His upcoming projects include starring in Justin Tipping’s psychological sports thriller “Goat,” produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.

Ugly Baby Productions, founded by Wayans and Alvarez in 2013, has a robust portfolio that includes hit films like “Naked,” “Sextuplets,” “The Curse of Bridge Hollow,” and the “A Haunted House” franchise, alongside multiple comedy specials and other productions.

The announcement of “Marlon Wayans: Good Grief” marks another milestone in Wayans’ career, showcasing his talent and versatility in both comedy and storytelling on a global platform like Prime Video.
