Meta Golding has been cast as a series regular opposite Patrick Dempsey in Season 2 of Fox’s Memory of a Killer, Deadline has learned exclusively.
Golding will play Mel, Angelo’s childhood sweetheart, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist who has spent her career diving headfirst into the world’s darkest corners. Sharp, funny and constitutionally incapable of looking away from the truth, Mel reappears in Angelo’s life as both his love interest for the season and his partner in avenging a tragic loss. The character serves as the season’s moral engine and emotional heartbeat, forcing Angelo to reckon with who he is, what he has done and whether the two of them can survive what is coming together.
Inspired by the 2003 award-winning Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer, Memory of a Killer stars Dempsey as Angelo Flannery, a hitman leading a dangerous double life while hiding an even deadlier personal secret: he is slowly losing his memory. Season 1 concluded with Angelo defeating FBI Agent Linda Grant, revealed as the vengeful Ferryman, in a final confrontation, only for Grant to expose his secret before dying by anonymously sending a file detailing his hits to his daughter Maria. The season ended with Maria arriving at his hideout demanding the truth.
Michael Imperioli also stars. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, with executive producers including Dempsey and showrunners Aaron Zelman and Glenn Kessler, alongside Arthur Sarkissian, Martin Campbell and Peter Bouckaert of Eyeworks.
Golding is known for playing Rosa Parks in the NAACP-nominated film Behind the Movement and recently recurred on HBO Max’s The Pitt and Netflix’s Ransom Canyon. She was part of the main cast of Paramount+’s Rabbit Hole and has film credits including The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
Memory of a Killer Season 2 is set to premiere midseason 2027 on Fox.
