‘Mosiah’: The First-Ever Narrative Film About Marcus Garvey Now Available on Prime Video [TRAILER]

MOSIAH MOVIE

History comes alive with Mosiah, the first-ever narrative film about Marcus Garvey, now available for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime Video. This groundbreaking short film, released through the Prime Video Direct content submission portal, offers an intimate portrayal of the legendary Pan-African leader during one of the most pivotal moments of his life.

Directed by Jirard and written by Samuel Lee Fudge, Mosiah dives into Marcus Garvey’s 1923 trial in New York, where he faced charges of mail fraud connected to selling stocks for the Black Star Line—a shipping enterprise envisioned to link North America and Africa. The trial, led by J. Edgar Hoover and the Bureau of Investigation (BOI, later the FBI), was seen by Garvey as an orchestrated attempt to destroy his movement and assassinate his character.

Refusing to be silenced, Garvey, portrayed by Samuel Lee Fudge (Emperor, Birth of a Nation), dismisses his legal counsel and defends himself in court. Through flashbacks, Mosiah also explores Garvey’s life, his ideals, and his relationship with his wife, Amy Jacques Garvey, played by Brit Scales.

“Lately, I’ve thought a lot about my legacy, and the impact I will leave with my talents,” shares director Jirard. “With Mosiah, I found the opportunity to be the first to tell this story and humanize Garvey, showcasing the dignity and strength that defined him, even in the face of adversity.”

The film’s release coincides with a historic milestone. On January 19, 2025, President Joe Biden issued a posthumous pardon for Marcus Mosiah Garvey. Widely regarded as Jamaica’s first national hero, Garvey was praised by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as “the first man on a mass scale and level to give millions of Negroes a sense of dignity and destiny.”

Mosiah, produced by Alima Industries Media Group and The DigiBees, is a landmark achievement for its subject and its creators. Jirard, co-founder of the Dallas-based DigiBees, is an award-winning filmmaker making his narrative directorial debut with this project.

As the first narrative film about Marcus Garvey, Mosiah is a bold and significant contribution to Black storytelling, offering audiences a deeper understanding of a man whose influence shaped the global civil rights movement.

Currently screening at film festivals, Mosiah is now available worldwide on Prime Video, making it easier than ever to experience this powerful and essential story.

Don’t miss this compelling story of resistance, resilience, and legacy—rent or own Mosiah today on Amazon Prime Video.
