‘Murderbot’ Season 2 Adds 25 New Cast Members Including Tramell Tillman, Blair Underwood, and Wanda Sykes

Apple TV+’s Emmy-nominated sci-fi comedy Murderbot is assembling a formidable roster for its second season. It added 25 new recurring and guest cast members who join returning series regulars Alexander Skarsgård, Noma Dumezweni, Tattiawna Jones, Tamara Podemski, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, and Akshay Khanna.

Among the new additions are Tramell Tillman (Severance), Blair Underwood, Wanda Sykes, Jason George (Grey’s Anatomy), Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country), Britne Oldford and Nia Otchere-Sarfo. Season 1’s recurring guest stars Clark Gregg, DeWanda Wise John Cho, and Jack McBrayer are also back.

Based on Martha Wells’ book series, Murderbot follows a self-hacking security construct, horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients, who must hide its free will while navigating a hostile universe, all while preferring to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas. Season 1 ended with Murderbot quietly slipping away from the PreservationAux team to forge its own path in the galaxy. Season 2 is expected to draw from the second novella in Wells’ series, Artificial Condition, in which Murderbot travels to investigate a location from its past and encounters a new artificial intelligence it comes to call ART. No further plot details have been announced.

Also joining this second season are Steve Buscemi, Michael Sheen, Nicholas Braun (Succession), Patton Oswalt, Martha Plimpton, Bridget Everett, Brendan Hunt (Ted Lasso), Topher Grace, Katy O’Brian, Griffin Newman, Ella Jay Basco, Damian Young, Divian Ladwa, Etienne Beydon, Jaedynn Latter, Maddy Strauss, Marc Menchaca and Meredith Salenger.

Several of the new additions are familiar faces within the Apple TV+ universe. Tillman plays Mr. Milchick on Severance, while Hunt is known as Coach Beard on Ted Lasso.

The series was created by Chris and Paul Weitz, who also write, direct and executive produce under their Depth of Field banner alongside Andrew Miano, Dan Balgoyen and Britta Rowings. David S. Goyer and Keith Levine executive produce for Phantom Four. Wells serves as consulting producer. CBS Studios produces.

A premiere date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
