The Pogues are back for one last ride. Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of Outer Banks, set to premiere August 20 with all 10 episodes dropping at once.
The teaser, set to alt-J’s “Left Hand Free,” the anthem that became a viral sensation when the show debuted, picks up in the aftermath of last season’s shocking finale, in which Chandler Groff killed his own son JJ in front of Kiara. The clip sets the tone immediately, with John B. declaring, “Let’s go get this son of a bitch,” as Cleo blows up the beloved Twinkie van.
Season 5 finds the Pogues at their absolute breaking point, stranded far from home and mourning the loss of JJ in Morocco. With Groff still at large, Dalia and the Corsairs closing in, and the Kooks ensuring they have no safe place to return to, John B., Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo must rely on their scrappy instincts and an uneasy alliance with Rafe to survive. Their mission is a desperate race to avenge their best friend and reclaim the freedom they have been chasing since the beginning.
The full cast returns, including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane and Cullen Moss. The series was created by Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, who also serve as executive producers and writers.
Coinciding with the teaser, Netflix also announced a vinyl soundtrack collection covering Seasons 1 through 4, produced by composer Fill Eisler. The 25-track collection spans Sides A through D and includes fan favorites such as the Outer Banks Main Theme, Pogue’s Theme and Endless Summer. It is available for pre-order now.
Across its four seasons, Outer Banks has received nearly 200 million views and appeared on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list 25 times. The fifth and final season premieres August 20 on Netflix.
