Netflix has confirmed that the fourth season of The Night Agent will be its last. Production on the final season began Monday in Los Angeles.
Gabriel Basso stars as Peter Sutherland, a formerly low-level FBI agent who has taken on increasingly dangerous assignments as part of a counterintelligence unit within the bureau known as Night Action. Season 3 ended with Sutherland’s boss, FBI Deputy Director Mosley, informing him that he would be getting a partner — setting the stage for what the final season will build on.
Joining the cast for Season 4 are Titus Welliver, Trevante Rhodes, Li Jun Ji, and Elizabeth Lail. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps. While not confirmed, Albert Jones and Fola Evans-Akingbola are expected to return for the final season.
Creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan confirmed the news, saying the team is focused on delivering a conclusion worthy of the show’s fanbase. Ryan executive produces via his MiddKid Productions alongside Marney Hochman, Seth Gordon, Julia Gunn, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, Nicole Tossou, David Beaubaire, Munis Rashid, Paul Bernard, Guy Ferland, and Seth Fisher. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
The decision comes after a notable shift in viewership across the show’s run. Season 1 landed in Netflix’s global top 10 English-language TV chart for 17 weeks in 2023 and was the most-watched show on the platform for the first half of that year. Season 2 ranked ninth in the first half of 2025, and Season 3 entered the top 10 for just four weeks earlier this year.
A premiere date for Season 4 has not yet been announced.
