Netflix’s psychological thriller You is heading toward its final chapter with Season 5, which will wrap up the story of its infamous anti-hero, Joe Goldberg in 2025. The series, starring Penn Badgley, has followed Joe’s dark journey through obsession, manipulation, and murder as he pursued love across cities like New York, Los Angeles, and London. Now, Joe returns to New York City, where it all began, alongside his wealthy partner Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) and unresolved secrets from his past.

The cast for Season 5 includes several new additions. Griffin Matthews joins as Teddy Lockwood, Kate’s quick-witted brother, while Anna Camp portrays twin sisters Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, two vastly different women with their own schemes. Madeline Brewer plays Bronte, a playwright who stirs Joe’s nostalgia for his former self. The season also features recurring roles from Natasha Behnam, Pete Ploszek, Tom Francis, and b, while Nava Mau guest stars as Detective Marquez.

Production on Season 5 wrapped in August 2024, with Michael Foley and Justin Lo stepping in as showrunners following Sera Gamble’s departure to focus on other projects. Gamble, who co-created the series, remains an executive producer. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, longtime executive producers, confirmed that the series was always envisioned as a five-season story arc.

Netflix recently released teaser posters that evoke Joe’s haunted past, featuring items tied to his previous victims. These visual nods to characters like Love Quinn and Guinevere Beck hint at the unresolved ghosts that may resurface as Joe confronts his crimes and inner turmoil.

Plot details remain scarce, but Penn Badgley has teased the return of a familiar face from Joe’s past, adding tension to his homecoming. The final season is expected to explore Joe’s acceptance of his darker nature, his relationship with Kate, and how he navigates new challenges in his life.
