Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B Vance Reunite in Ryan Murphy’s Mysterious Horror Drama ‘Grotesquerie’

Grotesquerie

Randomly on Friday (Feb 23), creator and producer Ryan Murphy teased his upcoming project through a cryptic clip. The teaser, set against a black backdrop, featured the names Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, Leslie Manville, and the intriguing word “Grotesquerie.” In the background, Nash-Betts is heard saying:

“I can’t put my finger on it but it’s different now. There’s been a shift, it’s like somethings opening up in the world. A kind of hole to the center of nothingness. What I saw today they sent shrinks from everyone who worked this crime scene. You say, “well hun, Evil has always existed. Cite some statistics about how the world is getting better, less murder, more help, less global horror. Never been a better time to be alive on you. Say, come back. It’s not getting better, and I keep needing to hear your answers because something’s happening around us and nobody sees but me.”

While the details of the project remain shrouded in mystery, the audio clip is enough to leave us intrigued and scared. ‘Grotesquerie,’ Murphy’s new horror drama, is set to debut in the coming fall on FX.

Outside of this mysterious horror drama, Ryan Murphy is simultaneously immersed in developing the next installment of his “Monsters” anthology series. Additionally, he is working on “American Sports Story,” a scripted limited series, which is an extension of Murphy’s “American Story” franchise. The second installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series for Netflix is “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”

The first “Monster” season, titled “Monsters: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” focused on the infamous Jeffrey Dahmer story, garnering acclaim for its gripping narrative. Niecy Nash-Betts played a pivotal role as Glenda Cleveland in the Netflix true-crime limited series, earning accolades such as the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie, Mini-Series, or Dramatic Special.

This upcoming project marks a reunion between Ryan Murphy and Niecy Nash-Betts, who have collaborated on multiple occasions. Furthermore, it will also bring together Nash-Betts and Courtney B. Vance, known for their roles as husband and wife in the poignant film “Uncorked,” directed by Prentice Penny.
