Omari Hardwick and director Anthony Hemingway are teaming up once again for a new drama titled No Right Way. The project marks a reunion for the duo, who previously collaborated on the hit Starz series Power with Hemingway directing a few episodes including the pilot of the Hardwick-led series.

Based on Terrence Gallman’s 2014 memoir Finding Me, No Right Way traces the tumultuous journey of Saleem, a young man whose life is a whirlwind of challenges from a young age. Struggling to support his extended family while grappling with loss and adversity, Saleem’s quest for success becomes a double-edged sword. As he navigates the transition from the streets to the boardroom on Wall Street, his rising arrogance threatens to unravel everything he holds dear.

The story unfolds as Saleem, confronting his past mistakes and the bleak prospects of redemption, finds himself in prison, where he begins to understand the true essence of redemption and the possibility of change.

Hardwick will star in and executive produce the film through his Bravelife Productions. Hemingway is set to produce, direct and co-write the film alongside Ashoka Thomas and Clay Ayers. Alex Nagel will sever as executive producer.

In an exclusive statement to Deadline, Hemingway expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating, “With themes of family, sacrifice, and age-old wounds woven throughout, No Right Way is an impactful and inspiring story that speaks to the human spirit and the capacity for growth and change. The film will serve as a love letter to the culture and South Carolina, where the story is set. My aspiration is for this film to resonate broadly and commercially, capturing a universal appeal that underscores our shared human experiences of error and the power we hold to bridge the vast divides that separate us.”

Hardwick, widely recognized for his portrayal of James “Ghost” St. Patrick on Power, up next will appear in Star Trek: Section 31 for Paramount+.

Hemingway, who made his feature directorial debut with Red Tails, most recently directed the pilot for CBS’s True Lies and up next will direct the upcoming series Forever.
