Will Smith and Kevin Hart are no strangers to remakes, this time they are teaming up to remake the 80s cult classic film Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Smith and Hart will star as the leads in the remake of John Hughes 1987 comedy which originally starred Steve Martin and John Candy.

The original film’s premise centered on a pair of mismatched travelers who cross paths as they attempt to get home to loved ones for Thanksgiving. Martin played Neal Page, a stuffy marketing executive, and the late Candy played Del Griffiths, a fast-talking salesman who unlike Neal is an optimist, despite hiding some personal baggage. As the duo attempted to get home they faced plenty of obstacles and comedic shenanigans.

As of right now, it’s unclear as to which roles Smith and Hart will take on.

Paramount Pictures is developing the remake that Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Hart’s Hartbeat Productions will co-produce. Ayesha Carr will pen the script and the project will mark her feature film debut. Carr most recently executive produced the upcoming Hulu series “Woke,” starring Lamorne Morris and Sasheer Zamata, and set to air in September.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles will mark as the first time Will Smith and Kevin Hart will star in a film together but it’s not the first remake either has under their belt.
