Starz has officially confirmed the development of a fourth spinoff series titled “Origins.” The prequel will delve into the early lives of iconic characters Ghost and Tommy, portrayed by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in the original “Power” series.
Spearheading the production is Sascha Penn, known for his role as executive producer in “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.” The series, produced by Lionsgate TV, is currently in development, and it remains uncertain whether it will be officially titled “Power Book V: Origins.”
The inaugural “Power” series, which premiered in 2014, centered around James St. Patrick, played by Omari Hardwick, a nightlife entrepreneur and successful cocaine distributor known on the streets as “Ghost.” His close companion, Tommy, portrayed by Joseph Sikora, shared in the rule of their empire.
“Origins” follows the success of other “Power” spinoffs, including “Power Book II: Ghost,” gearing up for its Season 4 debut in 2024, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” currently in the midst of filming its fourth season in New York, and “Power Book IV: Force,” currently shooting Season 3 in Chicago.
Kathryn Busby, Starz programming president, expressed excitement about the upcoming addition to the “Power” universe, stating, “As we approach the 10-year anniversary of Power, it is incredible to witness the enormous connection our fans have with the Power universe. We can’t wait to see how ‘Origins’ will further evolve this dynamic franchise while bringing fresh, gripping, and expansive storytelling to our audience.”
The “Power” series universe is executive produced by Courtney A. Kemp, the original creator and showrunner of “Power,” through her production company End of Episode, along with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Canton Entertainment. The announcement marks a pivotal moment for fans eagerly anticipating more insight into the captivating world of “Power.”
