Eddie Murphy is bringing the holiday spirit with him in the first teaser trailer for “Candy Cane Lane.”
The film, directed by Reginald Hudlin and produced by Brian Grazer, marks a reunion between the talented trio since their 1992 hit, “Boomerang.” The screenplay, inspired by holiday experiences on Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo, California, comes from Kelly Younger.
In the teaser, we get a glimpse of Eddie Murphy’s character, a man who is absolutely enamored with Christmas. The teaser reveals that Eddie Murphy’s character, along with his daughter, visits a toy shop. It’s there that they encounter Jillian Bell’s character, who offers them an opportunity to have the best Christmas ever. The catch is that they must sign a mysterious contract. It’s almost like signing their lives away, and they go ahead and do it.
What follows is a magical transformation for the best Christmas ever. While the trailer doesn’t delve into too many specifics, it’s clear that the family, including Tracee Ellis Ross Thaddeus J. Mixson, Gennaya Walton, and Madison Thomas are surprised by his wish. Becuase when offered the chance to wish for anything, tather than wishing for “world peace,” “ending hunger,” or “the new Drake album,” they opt for the best Christmas ever.

Eddie Murphy stars in this holiday comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. After Chris (Eddie Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town. At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.
“Candy Cane Lane” promises a unique take on the holiday film genre and also stars Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, D.C. Young Fly, Danielle Pinnock, Timothy Simons, Riki Lindhome, and Stephen Tobolowsky.
The film’s global premiere on Prime Video is set for December 1, 2023, just in time to kick off the holiday season. Eddie Murphy’s return to the big screen in a heartwarming and hilarious Christmas tale is sure to delight audiences and bring the holiday spirit to living rooms around the world.
